    Is an industrial research scientist with deep industrial product experience with polymers, which spans industrial products, building products, packaging and research & development industries. As a co-founder of the firm Andrew has had nearly two decades of experience working with a wide range of privately owned and operated businesses and applying the disciplines and skills obtained from an extensive career.

  • John McKinstry

    John is a CA and commenced his career in the profession. He has an intimate knowledge of the challenges faced by the accounting, banking and consulting professions to generate lead flow and value added services. This knowledge helped to develop the VALUE Encounter Methodology that has been successfully applied and widely applied with professional services.

  • Noel Scully

    Noel is a CPA and co-founder of the firm and has worked extensively with the accounting and banking professions over the past two decades. His knowledge of the professions and their desire to develop sustainable value added service offerings is extensive and unique.

    Brent is a growth strategy expert with a 25-year career in technology, focusing on client engagement (acquisition and retention) strategies. As a former client of nem, Brent successfully implemented the VALUE Encounter Methodology™, which resulted in a commercial partnership with a major trading bank in New Zealand helping their clients to become far more profitable.

  • Barry Anchen

    With applied science and applied chemistry qualifications, Barry is a manufacturing and operations specialist with deep chemical and petrochemical expertise across South Pacific and Asia. His experience spans product line improvement, supply and sales performance enhancement through complex wholesale distributor and retail channels.

  • Ron Andrews

    From an initial focus on technology, Ron quickly moved to the application of technology to support, enhance, and transition businesses. Over the last 30+ years, he has operated nationally and internationally; across private and public organisations covering a diverse range of sectors including technology and telecommunications, banking, utilities health and military; for multinationals, large nationals down to small and medium businesses. His core skills include project management and coordination, sales and business development, and organisational change. He is passionate about delivering sustainable business outcomes for businesses, their clients, stakeholders, and customers.

  • Gary Ayre

    Gary is the firms commercial and finance banking specialist having worked with three major banking institutions. He also takes the lead on Project Coordination work through active involvement in large scale technology heavy projects for over 10 years for both government and private enterprise.

  • Bernie Bicknell

    Bernie has had extensive experience in retail and FMCG, having been CEO and CFO of Mitre 10 and COO/CFO of the Godfreys group. He is a qualified Accountant, and his early career included several Finance roles, including Nabisco and The Valcorp Group. He worked with ICI Paints (Dulux) for 10 years. This included senior Finance roles as CFO of ICI Paints New Zealand and CFO of Glidden Paints North America.

    Bernie joined Mitre 10 in 2000 as CFO. He was in that role for 4 years, then GM Operations for a year. He then led Mitre 10 as CEO for a further 4 years, driving significant structural change and business improvement. In 2010 he joined the Godfreys Group as COO/CFO and enjoyed success in that business until 2018, when he departed to become a partner of nem.

    Bernie brings diverse commercial experience and has delivered significant change and business improvement programs throughout his career. He also has a history of Non-Executive roles, particularly with Not For Profit organizations. He is currently Chair of St. Vincent De Paul Society and Vincentcare Victoria.

  • David Birch

    David is a highly regarded Chief Executive who became a seasoned wholesale specialist across a range of importing and distribution businesses that supplied into trade and all minor and major retail channels across Australia and New Zealand.

  • Greg Bourke

    Having commenced his career in the accounting profession, Greg completed an MBA and progressed from CFO roles to General Management and ran one of Australasia’s pre-eminent publicly listed FMCG Food Manufacturers. He has broad agribusiness and food expertise that spans farm gate through to major national retail and consumer brands.

  • Trevor Burt

    Trevor's experience covers a range of industries including food, cosmetics, packaging, retail and wholesale as well as advertising and media and related areas such as research and public relations. Responsibilities included strategic planning activities, brand management, project management, staff management and new product development, amongst others.

  • Mark Dalton

    Mark’s background is in marketing and business development, having worked extensively in retail financial services in Australia and internationally with firms including American Express, AXA UK, Zurich Insurance and CGU (IAG), and with global marketing agencies WPP (London) and Leo Burnett (Sydney). His work has a focus on strategy and planning that is pragmatic and actionable, incorporating customer and market insights to inform decisions, and leveraging engagement with stakeholders across the value chain.

  • Andrew Dick

    With a lifetime of involvement with agriculture, Andrew is the firms’ Agribusiness specialist. Having worked in the UK in the grains & malt industry, Andrew immigrated to Australia to lead AFFCO, which he developed from inception to lead a $2.9BN network of leading fruit companies. In 2011 he joined the firm and has applied his skills and experience to a wide range of businesses across many industry sectors. Andrew is retained in a mentoring, advisory and director capacity in many organisations. As part of his work he is a Chair of TECR 209 at the Executive Connection.

  • Stuart Diggins

    Stuart has extensive public health system experience in managing the acquisition of medical devices and their whole-of-life maintenance and support. His experience broadens to more general areas of whole of health system support, including governance and standards - in both metropolitan and remote settings. He has significant project management and procurement experience.

  • Phil Downing

    Phil is a chemical engineer who is a manufacturing and supply chain specialist with deep expertise gained in the petrochemical, confectionery, food and beverage industries. His experience spans greenfield factory development, construction, expansion, consolidation, automation, manufacturing management, QA, R&D, procurement and logistics across a wide range of industries and countries.

  • Greg Garrihy

    Having come through the electrical industry, Greg is an industrial automation and process control solutions specialist. He has decades of experience developing, building and managing flexible automated manufacturing systems in a wide range of industries. Since joining the firm, Greg has applied this expertise to assist a large and diverse range of businesses to improve competitiveness, efficiency and profitability.

  • Vlad Gobets

    Vlad is a highly experienced Managing Director who specialised in establishing and growing complex manufacturing operations in Australia and Asia.

    After completing his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Vlad commenced his professional career with Skilled Engineering as a contract engineer and worked with a wide range of businesses from SMEs to multinationals.

  • Doug Golden

    Through his involvement in both private and public entities, Doug has developed expertise in private company governance, reporting systems and in regulatory compliance. He has also been extensively involved throughout his career in many acquisitions and divestments, and brings with him a strong service industry ethos.

  • Mark Griffiths

    Mark is a chemical engineer and specialised in computerised planning and scheduling systems in the petrochemical industry. These skills have been applied widely to review, mapping and documentation of a range of systems and processes since joining the firm and he has particular experience assisting a range of industry associations.

  • Colin Hannah

    Colin joined nem in 2015 and is the Lead Partner for Medical, Health and Pharmaceutical. He has an extensive history of senior leadership roles in global health care corporations in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, Colin was Managing Director, Sanofi Aventis and Vice President of Commercial Operations for Hospira. Sector expertise includes commercialising leading products across many therapeutic areas that have had a profound impact on improving health outcomes.

  • Jo Hannah

    Jo started her professional career in the UK in 1993 when she joined Janssen Cilag Pharmaceutical with a role in sales. This has expanded into a wealth of experience across the global healthcare and wellbeing markets. In 2015 Jo co-founded and was CEO and Managing Director of a medical aesthetic company which acquired 16 medical practices as part of a rapid acquisition strategy resulting in the company listing on the ASX the following year.

  • Martijn Laguna

    Martijn is a highly skilled Advisor and Coach and has over 25 years experience in strategy development, business improvement and driving growth & profitability. He has worked for start-ups, large listed companies and privately held organisations across Australia and Europe, in managing director, commercial, consulting and coaching roles capacities.

  • Steven Lamande

    Steven’s qualifications are in law and management. The early part of his career was in the public sector, including government utilities in Victoria before they were privatised in the 1990’s. He has extensive senior experience in the pre and post privatisation eras of the electricity industry and is the firm’s utilities, governance, and legal services specialist.

  • Glenn Mansfield

    Glenn has applied finance and business qualifications which he applied in the agricultural, telecommunication, packaging and wine & beverage industries. He has extensive merger and acquisition experience and has assisted a very wide range of businesses since joining the firm in 2003.

  • Nick Mennell

    A mechanical engineer that is a manufacturing and systems specialist spanning CAD, CAE, FEA and Topology Optimisation in addition to CAM, ERP, RDMS and PDM. Deep aerospace, automotive, motor sport and construction equipment industry expertise; in addition to working with a wide range of clients in a multitude of industries.

  • Scott Nelson

    Scott is a marketing and branding specialist with deep experience in the beverage, confectionery and consumer facing property development industries. As a proponent of the firms cama™ methodology, he has applied his extensive experience and creative capabilities to a wide range of businesses since joining the firm in 2007.

  • James Papa

    James is Melbourne based executive with an intimate knowledge of technology and software. Over the past 17 years he has interacted with every business role, from interns to C-suite, across most industries. He’s supported hundreds of local and overseas companies with their digital transformation and strategy through ASA Consulting which he successfully exited, and Bento Solutions with which now operates independently of his day to day involvement.

  • Lloyd Parrant

    Lloyd brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and experience in the business, construction and tourism industries. He has served as an officer in the New Zealand Army and has the ability to relate to people across the spectrum of society. He is a capable and practical architectural designer and project manager and he has been a consultant and advisor to many companies including GE Capital, Siemens and Macquarie Capital as well as individuals in property development and investment for the last 20 years.

    Originally a lawyer in Financial Services, Mark has had a diverse career in CEO / COO/ senior executive roles in technology related industries. He has developed significant expertise in the relationship between business strategy and executing business models, which has translated into an academic career teaching at MBA level and publishing several texts.

  • David Shackleton

    With a lifetime involvement with hotels, David has broad international experience having worked in senior management and corporate roles within the hospitality industry across Asia, the US, Australia and New Zealand. David has held Chief Operating Officer and Vice President roles for InterContinental Hotels Group, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Dusit International. David has deep operational, project and marketing expertise that have been successfully applied to new developments in New Zealand.

  • Derek Stott

    A chemical engineer that is a manufacturing, operational and technical sales management specialist with broad general management experience across specialty chemicals, water management and general manufacturing industries. He has worked with a multitude of businesses over the past 6 years and is an expert proponent of the firms’ cama™ Methodology.

  • Gary Tempany

    Having come through some of the region’s most demanding retail environments to hold national merchandising, marketing and category management roles Gary is the firm’s retail supply chain expert. Gary’s expertise spans a wide range of industries, from fresh food through to industrial products, and he has assisted a wide range of the firm clients since he joined.

  • Peter Veal

    Peter graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and commenced his career with Tubemakers. This time provided a world class introduction to technology development, operations maintenance, capital planning, project management and operational excellence which he continued to build upon over his career.

  • Peter Versluis

    Peter is a hands-on executive who has worked as a small business owner and a senior manager within large, listed companies. He graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Western Australia and subsequently completed an MBA from Deakin University. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Member of the Australian Institution of Company Directors.
