Director, East Africa Fund Inc Ltd
This organisation is the Australian based charity that funds the School of St Jude Tanzania. I was a volunteer at the school from Aug 2010 to November 2013, and was the school business manager and Acting School Director.
St Jude’s is a charity funded school in Arusha Tanzania that provides a free high quality free education to over 1,900 of the brightest students from the Arusha district who come from poor backgrounds and who would not otherwise have had a chance at an education beyond primary school. It is expected that all students will progress through the primary school and secondary school and on to a tertiary qualification. Currently only 5% of students in Tanzania complete secondary school and even less than that have an opportunity to gain a tertiary qualification.
The school has a supporter base of over 12,000 sponsor and donors thought-out Australia and the rest of the world, and raises over $6mill a year to fund its operation.
