Interim Roles & Projects
Know-how exactly where when needed
nem can cover the gap when you have a one off vacancy or project that needs attending to and you don't have available internal resources. With a large experience partner group add an unparalleled network we can usually find someone suitable very quickly.
“
We’re normally asked to cover or specific C-Suite vacancy. As an example when the senior finance manager left a client we were asked to put in an interim CFO which we had available in our partner group.
We are often called in to manage a project typically using the organisations own resources or we set up and run the project coordination unit. We have done over 7 projects in the Pacific where we have been running the project coordination unit dealing with all the other suppliers governments and other interested parties.
What we do
Interim:
Interim roles often arise when someone exits unexpectedly or sooner than planned, leaving a gap that needs to be filled quickly. Because permanent recruitment can take months, clients regularly turn to us for immediate cover. Our first step is to get on the ground, understand the true nature of the role, and assess whether full-time support is essential or if part-time engagement—often around three days a week—is sufficient.
We can often deliver what was a full-time outcome in fewer days because our focus is sharp, and we’re not caught up in internal day-to-day operations. Where possible, we place one of our own experienced team members in the interim role. If not, we tap into our trusted network to find the right candidate—someone who can hit the ground running and align with the organisation’s needs from day one.
To ensure things stay on track, a dedicated nem Partner oversees the engagement, checking in regularly to ensure expectations are met. We also support the recruitment process for the permanent hire, offering practical feedback from our time in the role to help ensure a smooth handover and successful onboarding.
Projects:
For over a decade, our team has led and supported major infrastructure projects across the Pacific Islands, with a strong focus on submarine fibre optic cable systems. We've delivered more than seven large-scale projects, including the development of cable landing stations and data centres, working closely with governments and Multi-National Development Banks (MNDBs) to manage capital, logistics, and delivery in challenging environments. Our success has earned us positions on key government panels such as the DFAT-supported Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP), a $3.5 billion initiative driving regional connectivity.
As trusted project coordination partners, we prioritise outcomes that go beyond infrastructure delivery. Many of our projects are community-focused, with an emphasis on social impact—maximising local employment, supporting digital health initiatives, and enabling eGovernment services. Our collaborative, team-based approach ensures we deliver on time and within budget, which has led to our selection as a pre-approved provider for both Federal and State Government panels, including CPSM services for AIFFP and strategic advisory roles under the Department of Finance.
One of our flagship roles is as the Project Coordination Unit for the East Micronesia Cable Project, a US$90 million initiative connecting Kiribati, Nauru, and the Federated States of Micronesia. Awarded in June 2022, this four-year contract reflects our ability to manage complex, cross-border infrastructure while delivering tangible benefits for Pacific communities. With a growing team of dedicated professionals, we continue to build on our proven track record—unlocking value from both new and legacy projects.
