What we do
Privately owned businesses or what is typically described as an SME have a variety of needs. Our work can start from giving them the guidance to get where they want to go which to use a technical term is really about strategy development.
We usually start by getting a clear understanding of what the owner wants from the business and how it fits into their overall plans for their own personal and financial goals. We will usually engage their staff if possible and obviously transfer the knowledge we gain through the process.
If the business is already clear on its overall direction but needs to improve profitability, then we will look at the various processes within the business and how they can be made more efficient.
Sometimes this will involve reviewing their technology stack and also looking at other things like artificial intelligence, security, digital transformation or improved use of the technology already available.
In some rare occasions clients will need support from a financial point of view around possible mergers and acquisitions or preparing the business for sale or risk management and other key indicators.
People are always the greatest asset in any business. Some of the common challenges are getting the people aligned with the goals of the owner so putting in place various KPIs or incentive programmes is quite common. Almost all businesses want to grow their sales and profitability.
The key to this is understanding the market and staying competitive. Getting valuable insights using our proprietary tools can help the owner make informed decisions and identify new opportunities for growth.
Some clients have a specific project that they need assistance with so they've identified clearly what needs to happen but don't have the internal resource and, in these occasions, we will use our proven project management methodologies to oversee every aspect of the project ensuring successful outcomes.
We've had certain clients use a large range of these services so it may start out with an owner being unsure of which strategic direction to take and we will review the business in a prompt and efficient manner, workshop the strategic direction and have it agreed engage with the staff and then assist the owner to implement that strategy through some sound business action planning which may lead to a revision of their technology implementation of different tools and then preparation for sale.
Along the way we may be asked to sit on an Advisory Board to give external input and as the relationship matures assume trusted advisor status.
